The HRU is a compact hydraulic driven double roller unit, facilitating easy hose pick up from the road while the hose layer truck is driving slowly forward along side the hose.
Apart from the drivers control of the pick-up speed, does the HRU operator have the facility of a 2-speed control from a portable remote control panel. A swivel joint enables the HRU to choose its required pick-up angle in relation to the position of the truck and the position of the hose. Even hose at a difficult distant position at the side of he road can be picked up.
In order to facilitate the couplings to remain coupled and still move smoothly through the hose recovery unit, the unit is equipped with electronic eye sensors, indicating to the pressure rollers to open up automatically at the moment a coupling set is approaching the HRU. After the coupling passed the first pressure roller, other electronic eye sensors indicate the first pressure roller to close and the rear rollers to open up. All of this in a simple automatic process of only a few seconds.
Water draining from the hoses automatically draw a vacuum assuring the hose to be stored nicely flat in the hose layer. Flaking the hose into the hose layer body is an easy low-labor-intensive task for two persons only. One thousand meters (6-inch) hose pick up in less than half an hour is normal.
The supply of a HRU is including hydraulic hoses, flow-pressure control valve and switch-over valve, ready for link-up with the truck’s hydraulics.
The truck’s PTO-hydraulic transmission (not part of the HRU supply), is in case of a container installed system, a side connection from the hook-arm lift-off system. In case of a hose layer truck, a small capacity (20 ltr./min. 120 bar) PTO-hydraulic transmission must be installed on the truck. Also the required electric 24-V power is taken from the truck’s electrics through a plug-socket connector.
